3 Steps To Improving Your Money Mindset
How you think about money can have a big impact on your overall financial health. In this post, we'll explore how your money mindset can affect your relationship with money, and what you can do to change your mindset for the better.
How is your money mindset? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, how would you rate your money mindset? Are you a 10? You're on fire, knowing that your money works for you, even while you are sleeping!
Or are you hanging out around 5 or lower? Knowing that you want a stronger money mindset, but you’re scared to look at your finances. Afraid of what’s hiding under the bed, so to speak?!
Well, I’m here to tell you that your fear is probably way stronger than reality.
Once you stop, take a deep breath, and open your accounts - YOU TAKE BACK YOUR POWER! That’s right, you step out of victim mode and into power mode and you start to make the shifts that you’ve probably been thinking about making but just needed this gentle nudge to get to do it.
One of the easiest ways to start is to set a Money Date! Yes, a date! Because your relationship with money is exactly that - A Relationship!! Up until today, how have you been treating money? Like it was shit? Or like it’s one of your most loving, divine relationships that you’ve ever had?
Have you wrapped your mind around this yet? Money and your relationship, i.e how you treat it, is the first step to shifting!
I know this can be confronting at first, at least it was for me. I was treating money horribly while expecting it to come to me, to pour over me like a monsoon. Why would it???
How did I change my relationship with money? I began setting weekly money dates.
Now listen, you could do this daily too, but let’s be honest - if you’ve been shitting on money all this time, daily can be overwhelming. And speaking of overwhelming, emotions will surface while you do this.
Money has been shown to us in very emotionally charged ways. All the stories will come from who am I to money doesn’t grow on trees, to you wanting to run away and never look at it again. I get it! But has that move served you?
Or are you in the same place as last year and still have no control?
When the emotions come up - allow them. Feel them, and let them move through you.
You are in the process of shifting so you regain your power, you move back into the driver seat.
3 Simple Steps To Start Cultivating A Healthy Relationship With Money:
- Set a Date: What day will you create your Money Date? Your weekly standing money date? Once you’ve got this, put it in your calendar!!! You know my Love of the Google Calendar - this is your first step to making a commitment to money, to begin cultivating the relationship.
- Get Creative: Since we’re getting romantic with money, and you’ve set the date, what kind of date will this be? Will this be you, your accounts, with candles and wine. What type of music do you want to listen to? Or is this a silent affair? Are you more practical, tactical - you, your accounts, a quick in and out and done? Can you see how all of this is very much like a relationship?? Are you picturing what this could be for YOU? If you heard my Live training in The Beauty Confidential Lounge FB group, you heard me share that the only “Right” way to money is YOUR WAY! So what’s your date going to be like? Play with this, each week can be different, until you find what works for you.
- Commit: Before you begin your weekly money date, take a deep breath or 5 to bring you into your body. Or my personal favorite, EFT Tapping!!!
To calm the nerves, to help you connect within. Perhaps, along with the breathing, you pray or set an intention to step into your power by cultivating your relationship with money.
Then begin. . . . . .and if you find yourself wanting to take a break or feeling anxious, unsure, BREATH! Funny enough, our body’s first reaction is to constrict and move to shallow breathing. So put your hands on your belly and breath - DEEP into your stomach a few times while reminding yourself - You’ve Got This! One step at a time.
This journey is yours to take, your’s to create, cultivate, strengthen along the way. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised along this journey, you may find new parts of you, new ideas, desires, and a new level of sense of self! May your journey well.
And one last note, this is your journey to take and YOUR is the right way for you.
It’s time to rise, let’s go.
